Controller

This position oversees all finance-related activity for the agency and serves as an internal finance consultant and trusted advisor to agency ownership and management, as well as to director- and supervisor-level team members. This position reports directly to agency ownership/management and is a contributing member of the agency leadership group. It is critical for this individual to bring a strong strategic mindset to the agency, and an ability to align finance and accounting strategies to business objectives.

What You’ll Do

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees all financials/accounting of the company. Plans and directs all accounting operational functions, includes various journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Manages cashflow and oversees the budgeting process. Provides a series of reports that project the company’s rolling forecast and overall projected bottom line.
  • Oversees development and monitoring of business performance metrics.
  • Leads and manages a team of 6-7 accounting staff with help from the Financial Management Director.
  • Oversees tax functions with outside CPA firm.
  • Responsible for 401k, vendor and banking relationships.
  • Operates and complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Administers and processes payroll.
  • Leads business insurance renewal.
  • Works in tandem with Director of HR to oversee company benefits, most notably in expense planning and overall impact to the company’s bottom line.
  • Strong communication with management providing vital information to the decision-making process.
  • Assesses accounting and finance operations, offers recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.

About You

REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or relevant field; MS/MA in accounting, finance or administration is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial management principles and best practices.
  • Proven experience as an organization’s lead Finance professional.
  • Good business acumen paired with attention to financials.
  • Strong experience of understanding financial and accounting regulations.
  • Knowledge of financial-related data analysis and reporting.
