When I was a full-time law student long ago, I came to the realization that I wanted something more. And if my sudden shift from law school to joining the family advertising business taught me anything, it’s this: taking risks is terrifying, but sticking to the uninspiring status quo is worse.

To do great work, you must have the desire and determination to be great. You need to be willing to start and stop, start and stop, and then throw it all away and start again until you find it — the idea that stands out from everything else. The idea that makes you giddy or even a bit nervous. It’s hard. Always. But exhilarating when you watch it all come together.
