Economic Development Campaign
Showcase economic development, community growth, and collaborative initiatives. The campaign was developed in alignment with Polk County goals and highlights values, offerings and accolades.
Our messages have focused on the major expansion of the Des Moines Airport, major community support for attractions like the zoo and the events center, business attraction and retention and leading the way on water quality initiatives. The campaign strategy was directly focused on what makes Polk County vibrant and successful. By design, the campaign featured on collaborative efforts, positive impacts and areas of continued focus. It did not feature or highlight any elected officials specifically.
Supported by research and historical perspectives, local civic and business leaders have been clear in stating that Polk County needs to do a better job at highlighting the positive initiatives going on to further economic development and enhance the quality of life in our community. This awareness campaign sought to educate the public that Polk County remains and will continue to be a great place to work and live. The initiative started in August of 2025 when all five Supervisors voted in favor of this effort.
The Des Moines and Ankeny airport expansions not only allow for additional flight options for residents traveling for leisure but also position Central Iowa as desirable for business relocation and corporate aircraft.
Polk County continues to be a thriving hub for insurance, finance, technology and agriculture. This, coupled with affordable living, top-tier education and pro-business tax policies, allows the community to attract and retain a highly skilled workforce for long-term residency.
Polk County has been leading the way on water quality initiatives including water analysis, restoration projects, collaboration for sustainable infrastructure, and integration with government entities and neighboring communities.
